Thank you to Florida House District 18 Candidate Nick Primrose for speaking at our September meeting. Primrose, the former Florida Elections Commission (FEC) Chair left that position to run for the House District 18 seat which covers a portion of St. Johns County and is currently represented by Rep. Cyndi Stevenson, who faces term limits in 2024.
Primrose has a stellar background beyond his FEC Chair experience; has practiced law in Florida since 2013 with a spotless record, served on the Bar’s Governmental and Public Policy Advocacy and Constitutional Judiciary committees, worked for the Jacksonville Port Authority as the Chief of Regulatory Compliance, was a Deputy General Counsel in the Governor’s Executive Office and also served as General Counsel to the Florida Division of Emergency Management. Primrose seems to be on his way to fight for District 18 which (after redistricting in 2022) includes Ponte Vedra down to parts of St Augustine and west to Fruit Cove.

I’ve received many texts and emails asking why Congressman Rutherford voted against Rep. Jim Jordan for Speaker. Here is his response:
Speaker McCarthy put before the House a short-term stopgap funding bill that would keep the government funded through Oct. 31 at a 30% reduction in non-defense discretionary spending while we pass the last eight single-subject appropriations bills. It would secure our border, remove dangerous criminals entering our country illegally, and fund Republican priorities outlined in H.R. 2, our Secure the Border Act. It would create a Fiscal Commission focused on debt reduction to make a real impact on cutting our $33 trillion debt. Republicans took that Bill down. They wanted a government shutdown. So McCarthy put a less Conservative CR on the floor to avert a shutdown. For this McCarthy is out?
Also, in 9 months, we passed Parental Rights bill, energy independence, Secure the Southern border and the list of Appropriations, single subject bills with significant cuts that you see in the right side column. Looks like pretty good leadership to me.
Arab Leaders Refuse To Meet Biden As Protests Rage Around The World After Gaza Hospital Strike; According to ZeroHedge, after the fallout of the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital bombing, Wednesday is shaping up as quite a global day of rage as major cities around the world demonstrate.
Unfortunately for Biden, Arab leaders announced they would NOT meet with him since the US is Israel’s biggest funder and supporter which caused a cancelation in Biden’s schedule that now excludes Jordan. As Jordanian security forces block protestors from entering the Israeli embassy in Amman, reports last night stated that crowds were attempting to storm the US Embassy in Beirut.
Biden Admin Drafts $100 Billion Ukraine-Israel Foreign Aid Package; ABC News reports that the Biden administration is putting the finishing touches on a foreign aid package that would allocate $100 billion in US taxpayer funds to Ukraine, Israel and other ‘top security priorities.’ The “bulk” of the assistance will go to Ukraine, while roughly $10 billion will go to defense assistance for Israel following the Oct. 7 attack on civilians by Hamas terrorists from Gaza. A small amount is being set aside for border security, aimed at garnering the support of Congressional Republicans.
Excuse me? $100 billion more to Ukraine!!!! No! Stop this nonsense. Close our border, and stop spending our money to line your own darn pockets. Enough!
Dmitry Medvedev, former President of Russia from 2008 to 2012, said it best, “The horrific attack on a hospital in the Gaza Strip is clearly a war crime. Tonight at 8 pm, Biden will address the nation to explain “our response to Hamas’ terrorist attacks against Israel and Russia’s ongoing brutal war against Ukraine.” The perfect headline to ask for more billions of taxpayers’ dollars to fund wars that were started to profit the cabal.
The New York Times hints that Biden will also suggest dishing out some of those bucks to help secure our own border…maybe only 10%! If the average American still can’t see the Obama-Biden open border and immigrant enticement plan coming to fruition…we’re in more trouble than I thought.
China and Russia criticize Israel as divisions with the West sharpen; Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Beijing this week to discuss the two leaders’ shared vision for a ‘new international order no longer dominated by the United States and its democratic allies. Putin and Xi are meeting to bring focus to their proposed solutions to the ongoing Israel Crisis…a two-state solution that recognizes Palestine.
Remember President Trump also proposed this solution during his time in the White House.
Both Beijing and Moscow have criticized Israel’s actions and called for a ceasefire, in the latest showing of the two powers’ efforts to step up their alternative leadership to that of the US, which affirms Israel’s ongoing right to retaliate.
So the world watches and waits for the next step in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as our own war-mongering government refuses to de-escalate the situation. Yet, true leaders call for peace.
Rep. Jim Jordan to make his third bid for the House Speakership after losing 22 Republicans on the latest vote; Jordan lost 20 Republicans on Tuesday and 22 on Wednesday but he has vowed to plow ahead with his nomination. Behind closed doors, a proposal to elevate Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C. from speaker pro tempore to speaker of the House for a temporary period of time appears to be gaining steam.
Unleash Prosperity notes, that the GOP rebels seem to fit into one or more of three categories: Members of the big-spending House Appropriations Committee (“The Favor Factory”), moderate members in districts won by Joe Biden, and New York State Republicans who are obsessed with overturning a $10,000 limit on the deductibility of State and Local Taxes (SALT) on federal tax forms.
Maybe the rumors about Rep McHenry are true.
Regardless, as establishment Republicans refuse to vote for any of the party’s nominees and Democrat Rep. Hakeem Jeffries attempts to sway votes his way, the House remains leaderless. Congress has been unable to respond to wars in the Middle East and Ukraine, with just a month left before the U.S. government faces another partial shutdown deadline.
Yet, look at the positive. Biden’s $100 billion aid package has stalled and frivolous Congressional spending that will further bankrupt our country has halted.
“RFK Jr. comes out in favor of reparations, carving out lane to Biden’s left;” The New York Post ran this headline yesterday just as Robert Kennedy, Jr changed his political affiliation to run as an Independent. According to the Post, RFK’s campaign website clearly advocates for reparations, which are deeply unpopular with Republicans and Democrats alike.
RFK catapulted to political notoriety (beyond his name) with his vocal disavowment of the fake COVID ‘vaccines’ and his push for medical freedom. So why bring reparations onto his platform? Reparations have been a talking point for extreme liberals yet not for a moderate Democrat. RFK’s alignment here is puzzling and may take some wind out of his sails.
