THE RNC PUTS GOD AND AMERICA FIRST

This year’s Republican National Convention speeches: South Carolina Senator Tim Scott’s rise from “cotton to Congress” in a “land of promise;” former Notre Dame Coach Lou Holtz’s praise of President Trump and his “commitment to the American people and love of our country;” South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s point that our three founding principles…“equality, freedom, and opportunity” are under attack and former NFL player Hershel Walker’s prayer to give the President “four more years,” all spoke of hope, promise and the fight for the American dream. More importantly, the underlying theme was the importance of prayer and that God is working through President Trump.

The RNC speeches were sprinkled with prayer and freedom of religion making faith a powerful part of the Republican ticket in 2020.  New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan opened the Republican National Convention by praying for America on the first night claiming “pray we must for COVID-19 patients, frontline workers, police, babies in the womb, immigrants, trafficking, religious liberty, democracy, and the electorate preparing to vote.”

Following Cardinal Dolan’s prayer, Charlie Kirk, the young conservative activist and founder of the Turning Point USA, the largest pro-American Student organization pleads for churches to be reopened without any government interference. “The American way of life means you speak your mind without retribution, without being kicked off social media by a self-righteous censor in Silicon Valley. It means you can freely practice your religion and that church is more essential than a casino.”

Freedom of faith continued when Donald Trump Jr claimed, “People of faith are under attack. You’re not allowed to go to church, but mass chaos in the streets gets a pass. It’s almost like this election is shaping up to be church, work, and school versus rioting, looting, and vandalism.” Kimberly Guilfoyle, fiance to Don Jr and National Chair, Trump Victory Finance Committee and Advisor to the President, gave a rousing and animated speech blessing President Trump’s “vision for a country where we kneel in prayer and we stand for our flag.”

Former Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley painted a picture of hope and freedom of religion with President Trump, “where every believer can worship without fear” and “where every girl and boy, every woman and man of every race and religion has the best shot at the best life.”

Adding to the theme is Hershel Walker’s spiritual reflection, “I pray every night, ‘God, give him some more time. Give him four more years.’ He has accomplished so much, almost all by himself and under constant attack.”

Rabbi Shubert Spero blessed our constitutional right to freedom of religion and freedom of speech and praised President Trump for defending these rights while the other side continues to take them away.  “Father, we pray that this outlook and mindset, this form of government continues as has been our history, especially now when to our horror, it is being challenged. And so we pray that God gives strength and health to our President, who has splendidly demonstrated daily his determination to defend and maintain the God-given rights of our citizens as enshrined in our constitution…”

Ironically, as President Trump continues his fight for our rights as the Left continues to hold our freedoms hostage and condemns our right to religion, some in the Democrat party are jumping the fence to greener and more holy pastures to preserve their faith. According to an article in the Blaze this week, a “lifelong Democrat” who had just watched the Monday night RNC speeches called C-SPAN and announced that he will be voting Republican this year. “I’m a lifelong Democrat, from Lorain, Ohio, which is a Democrat city in Ohio. And I just want to say after watching the convention tonight on TV….I am definitely changing my vote to Republican,” said Rick, the caller. “I tell you what, they just put the Democratic Party to shame. I’m going to follow the Republican Party now,” he continued.

According to the article, what convinced Rick to change his mind was that the Republican speakers’ “heartfelt” message and religious emphasis really hit home. “It was the heartfelt way they came across to the American people, and I was really touched by the number of times they used the word ‘God.’ They put God into everything,” Rick explained. “The people on the Democratic side, at their convention, act like they were pushing God right out of it — and that had a lot to do with changing my mind.”

And that folks is how God is working in our lives…and just maybe through Donald Trump.

TRUMP receives ‘BEST JOB APPROVAL RATING ON RECORD,’ Up with Minorities and Democrats

According to an article in the Washington Examiner this week, President Trump’s approval hit an all time high at 52% in the latest Zogby Analytics poll, a survey with heavy minority voters. “The president has recorded his best job approval rating on record,” said pollster Jonathan Zogby. Even more remarkable is his approval rating among minorities; African Americans 36%, Hispanics 37% and Asians 35%.

Independents are up to 44%, and “intriguingly,” said Zogby, 23% of Democrats approve of Trump.

According to the article,” it was the latest to show that Trump’s approval went up during the Democratic National Convention and Rasmussen Reports had his approval rating at 51% at the end of the convention. We are waiting for the numbers after the RNC concludes which are sure to go up even more!

The Most Exciting Female Black Candidate Starting with K is Not Kamala

The Democratic party’s fixation on identity politics was evident in Its selection of Kamala Harris as Joe Biden’s running mate.  Never mind that her own presidential candidacy crashed and burned on takeoff or that she adds no potential electoral votes as she comes from a state (California) that is already deep blue.  All that mattered was that she is a “woman of color,” in her case, ancestry that includes slave-owning Jamaicans and Tamil Brahmins from India.  Not exactly “down for the struggle of the victim classes” on either side.

As Democrats celebrated Kamala, a more persuasive woman of color whose name begins with the letter K put Democrats to shame for their incompetent and corrupt governance of American cities.  Kimberly Klacik, Republican candidate for Congress, published a campaign video (clickhere to view) of Baltimore, her home town, highlighting its dilapidated housing, its crime, its poverty, and its citizens’ frustration.  Her point is not just to blame four decades of Democrat party rule, but also to challenge African Americans to vote for her and other Republicans.  Plus, all her “man on the street” interviewees said they thought de-funding the police was a dumb idea.

Klacik’s broader appeal, which she emphasized in a recorded message for the RNC convention, is to ask Americans to put an end to identity politics: To take offense when Biden says that if you support Trump “you ain’t Black,” and to acknowledge the reality that the Trump Administration made life better for minorities than any previous Administration.  The left’s only answer to this reality is to cry “racist” at every turn, which most Americans find tiresome.

At last week’s St. Johns County primary election, we saw many young people out campaigning wearing red T-shirts identifying them as Hispanic Republicans.  Not surprising, as the Trump Administration brought about the lowest ever unemployment rate for Latinos, that is, until Covid wiped it out.  Certainly no reason why Trump can’t increase substantially his share of Spanish-speaking voters, and not just Cuban exiles.

Jews have traditionally voted upwards of 75 percent Democrat, which is explained from a historical perspective in Norman Podhoretz’s book “Why are Jews Liberal.”  That deserves to change, as Trump is the most pro-Israel President we’ve ever had, and adores his Jewish daughter and grandchildren.  Elizabeth Pipko leads a movement on behalf of Jews leaving the Democratic party called “Jexodus,” similar to the movement urging African Americans to leave the Democratic party called “Blexit,” led by Candace Owens.

We are all individuals capable of making up our own minds who we want to vote for, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, geography or career path.  In my own case, every demographic I belong to would predict me to be a solid vote for the Democrats, yet I would not even vote for a Democrat for dog-catcher.  Although unfortunately, I think mydog may be a Democrat.

Identity politics is essentially tribal, and not unlike how elections happen in the Third World.  We’ve seen this play out regularly in the Middle East and in Africa, sometimes accompanied by violence.  Think of ethnic/political strife in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Nigeria.  It should be the case that as societies become more modern and civilized, tribal politics gives way to political interest aggregation around ideas or governing philosophies.  In our current presidential election campaign, people should vote for Trump if they believe in strong defense, tough immigration enforcement, law and order, energy deregulation, the America-First foreign policy, and tariffs to protect American industry.  Those who vote for Biden should believe in big government—even socialism, open borders, the Green New Deal, China-friendly globalization, and lenient enforcement of criminal justice.  It’s a pretty clear choice, based on policy differences, with no reference whatsoever to ethnic identity.  When you throw in the Biden family record of corrupt dealings (see Peter Schweizer’s “Profiles in Corruption”) and his deteriorating cognitive abilities, the choice should be a no-brainer.

Thanks to Operation Warp Speed, “the entire process for delivering a safe and effective vaccine—to be assessed by FDA’s apolitical scientific experts just as any other vaccine would be—is underway and on track,” HHS Secretary Alex Azar writes in USA Today.

“We are immensely encouraged by the progress so far, and hope to celebrate the successful delivery of a safe and effective vaccine in large quantities in the months to come.”

“Each generation deals with its own manifestations of age-old mob frenzies, bullying and public shaming. Salem, Mass., had its witch trials in the 1690s. The 1950s endured its McCarthyism. And we now are enduring our ‘cancel culture.’ But 21st-century public shaming reaches not thousands but tens of millions,” Victor Davis Hanson writes in The Hill.
