Harrison Butker, the three-time Super Bowl champion kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs gave a superb commencement speech to the graduating class at Benedictine College, a Catholic school in Atchison, Kansas.
Butker spoke about his devotion to his Catholic faith, his family, the importance of traditional marriage, and women as homemakers and even referred to Pride Month as a “deadly sin.”
He called out our bad leaders who “don’t stay in their lane” and instead pushed bad policies.
Butker’s speech on May 11th bestirred the ‘urchins and trolls’ over at X yet A Washington Post article rightfully gives him a pass;
“But the mass outrage over a Catholic football kicker’s speech at a Catholic school is laughable. Some 130,000 people have signed a petition to get this 58-yard kicker fired from his job. His sin? He expressed thoughts that offended 130,000 people who weren’t at the graduation. At Benedictine, Butker received a standing ovation for his address. Nonetheless, the NFL felt compelled to issue a statement Wednesday saying that his comments “don’t reflect the views of the league.” Ah, good to know.”
Butker critiques a culture that has become completely un-American and that our leadership is at fault. Is he wrong? No.
During a time of massive censorship, I’m amazed at this young man’s poise and courage to speak up for our country’s values, morals and beliefs. God is using him to help others wake up to our nonsensical society.
Whether you are Catholic or not, watch this man’s words…
God Bless him.
Sincerely,
Diane Scherff
